16 Oct Autumn Harvest Open Day – Ryton Organic Gardens

Join us at Ryton Organic Gardens on Tuesday 26th October during half term for a free,
outdoor ‘City of Horticulture' event 11am-3pm!
Showcasing the horticulture of Coventry. Spend time in Ryton gardens, visit the onsite
community vegetable farm, find out about training courses in horticulture, see Coventry
University’s research projects on plants and soil, and show off your own home grown
produce!
Activities include apple pressing (bring your own apples and containers), a show bench
(bring and show off your squashes, pumpkins, vase of wild flowers, your most magnificent
home-grown fruit or vegetable), garden and farm tours and community horticultural stalls as
well as information about seed saving, bee keeping, fruit tree pruning, a ‘pest and diseases
advice’ table, plant art activities and much more.
Children’s Corner: “Plant Pot Plunk”; pot up a baby spider plant; follow the trail.
In the Marquee; colouring corner; make a willow wand; see a plant under a special light;
- Summer of Sunflowers stall – pick a sunflower seed
- Tours (booked in the Marquee)
- Garden Organic Show gardens
- Heritage Seed Library and seed saving
- Five Acre Community Farm (and apple pressing)
- Coventry University – research projects
The event is great for families, allotment holders and anyone who likes spending time in
nature or growing plants. There will be hot food and drinks stalls.
Free parking onsite is available as well as a free shuttle bus.
Shuttlebus leaves Coventry Railway at 10.30am and again at 12.30pm
